Encrypt Sasmung S3 with PIN only

Hi,

Is there any way at all to get around the requirement for an alpha numeric unlock code in order it Encrypt my Samsung S3 I9300? Having a PIN unlock code is far easier to remember and to enter when in a hurry. This seems to be a bit of an unnecessary bind.
