Hi there, i'm in a parental tech help situation and i'm pretty stuck.
My folks are on their iPad, using (trying to use) the Hangouts app, i'm on my new Nexus 7.
They are having a few issues with general use which are frustrating the hell out of them and me. I am normally the tech-help member of the family, but i now live in Australia (they're in the UK) and it makes some things more difficult to assist with.
Basically, they are used to using FaceTime, which to give credit where its due, is a really simple logical app to use, and Hangouts is a little more complex an interface.
The issues are:
1) The video i receive of them on my screen is boxed / square, whether in landscape or portrait. I don't know why as they are receiving me in the normal widescreen (as far as i know) -is this a setting on my side?
2) They can barely hear it ringing, even though the volume is up and they can hear FaceTime ringing fine. -I'm aware this is more of an Apple centric problem, hope thats ok!
Any help is appreciated, i don't have an iPad anymore and i can't find anything on Google. Thanks in advance!
...Also i'm open to suggestions of simpler apps, i've already tried Skype and ooVoo, but just setting them up, for my parents, is enough of a headache.
